Dear tea friends,

Making waves this year is the laid-back Coastal Grandmother style based on classic ocean-side luxury of blue and white, neutral tones, and understated elegance. It brings to mind relaxing afternoons sipping tea, reading a good book, lounging on a crisp linen covered chair or enjoying a picnic on the beach. This style embraces all the little things that make a house feel like a warm and inviting place for friends to enjoy and relax - fresh flowers, a bowl of fruit, classic music, and a teapot and teacup to grace the kitchen or table.

Blue & White, tea, a good book? Count me IN!

I did a little research and learned that the term coastal grandmother was coined by Tik Tok influencer Lex Nicoleta earlier this summer as she referred to a relaxed, fresh-from-the-garden way of living. Not trendy, not preppy - just classic and laid-back.  The kind of lifestyle you see and LONG for in Nancy Meyer movies. (Think Diane Keaton in Something’s Gotta Give and Meryl Streep in It’s Complicated).

The Coastal Grandma style, which, by they way, can be a woman any age and who doesn’t have to live near the ocean - only long for it) is a lady absolutely comfortable in a classy woven straw hat and ready to invite her friends over every week for afternoon tea. She enjoys a slower-paced lifestyle with a cozy home surrounded by high-quality simplicity.

She has a love of tea parties and antique china, bucket hats, seashells, white linen, fresh herbs from her garden, walks on the beach or bicycle rides on basket-laden antique cruisers, polished OR tarnished silver, anything edged in pretty scallops designs, and walls covered in beloved one-of-a-kind art.

Oh my goodness, friends, I have described myself! I guess that’s why this is a trend that I can actually get excited about! :)  To my other kindred spirits, enjoy every moment embracing the years “hottest” trend!
